MORE STITCHING ON MY GRANDSON'S CAR QUILT

I have been trying to work about 20-30 minutes every morning on Collin's birthday car quilt and have been making some real progress.

I am up on a stool trying to take the photo of it lying across my queen bed.  Not a very good angle, but I wanted you to see how much I have completed so far.  YIPPEE, starting to look like a quilt!!

Closer look from directly down on the quilt.  I have one more "panel" of the printed cars and 3 more rows of blue jeans and I will be ready to start the quilting and snipping the raggedy edges.  Who is that I see in the upper right hand corner?

Jewel the Pomeranian (Joo Joo she is affectionately called) jumped up the moment I put the quilt on the bed and thought perhaps she would claim this one as her own. She immediately started primping herself to get ready for a nice nap.  Here she is primping her little toes.  Does your dog ever do that?  She can spend 30 minutes on her feet until they are just how she wants them.  (they don't look any different to me when she is done.)

Thanks for visiting.  Stay tuned for more progress in the coming weeks.  My deadline is to have it shipped by May 15th, so I am chugging along as quickly as I can.

SNEAK PEEK - MODERN MOSAIC

Here is a SNEAK PEEK from our new Annual Catalog 2013-14.  I am choosing to showcase a new matching set called Modern Mosaic.  A punch, an embossing folder and a stamp set all coordinate.  There is also a designer series paper, but I am not using it here on this card today.

You might also notice some new colors here as well:  SMOKY SLATE AND CRUSHED CURRY. The crushed curry used to be an In-Color several years ago and is now back in our color families.  The smoky slate is a brand new color!!  It is soft and elegant and will be a great neutral to go with so many other colors!!

I stamped with smoky slate ink on smoky slate card stock, then punched 4 out with the NEW MODERN MOSAIC PUNCH.  I don't know about you, but I LOVE ME SOME PUNCHES!!

You can see the embossing folder and how all this matches so well.  The DSP I am using is going to retire (International Bazaar) so I wanted to use it before it is too late.  I love that it matches the mosaic patterns so well AND the colors I chose!!  The other color on my card is Pool Party.  And I added some medium sized rhinestones for a bit more LOOKIE HERE. (grin)

Hope you enjoyed my card.  And thanks for stopping by my blog.  Won't you leave me a comment about the new products or my design?  I always appreciate your comments.

For the RetroSketches 61 challenge,  Late Night Stampers,  and Friday Mashup I added a sentiment to comply with the sketch.

KEEP CALM and CARRY ON

I will miss this set.  I LOVE the saying and absolutely LOVE the stamp set.  I will still be using this even though it is retired, I am sure!!

Isn't this a pretty card with the dark blue against the vanilla?  I chose 3 different colors that matched the designer paper for the stamped crowns.

The 1/8" ribbon  is just tied in a know and is used as the 3 little tabs sticking out on the top right side.  Just a special little touch to add some more interest.

If you see how fun this set is and have not gotten it yet, hurry over to my shop and purchase it NOW BEFORE IT IS GONE!!  The retired items are only available while supplies last.  Just click my signature line below and order yours NOW.

MORE MADE FROM BOUTIQUE BOXES KIT

Still showing what I made with ONE Boutique Boxes Kit ($7.95 plus s/h).  I have a card and a candy bar holder still to show you.  Look at previous posts to see two other cards I made using the same kit.

River Rock card stok is the base of this card.  I used crumb cake for the splatters from French Foliage stamp set and the post mark stamp is from Postage Due stamp set as well as sponging the edges.  The sentiment punched out with the petite decorative label punch and then layered onto the decorative label punch is from Pretty Petites stamp set from SAB.

ALL the other elements (tags, feathers, twine, buttons, die cuts, doilies, borders, etc.) are all included in the kit!!  AWESOME

This is made from the gift card box in the kid.  I cut off the top and then decorated it to be a candy bar or treat holder.  All you see on this is all included in the kit.  I have not stamped onto the tags as yet.

I did add a twine bow onto the grey circle with the tag hole punched in it. (came that way).  Once I saw this photo I realized it had the hole punched in it, so I added a twine bow.  The top is completely open to slide the candy bar down inside.

Also included in this KIT are 8 mini enclosure cards.  So this treat box would be complete with a mini note card included with it as well telling them thanks, or how much you care, etc.

Hope you have enjoyed my cards, etc. made from the BOUTIQUE BOXES DESIGNER PRINTED KIT. (item #129306, $7.95).  I still have 6 boxes left over and 7 note cards!!  so I can still make more items with this fun KIT.

If you would like to order this kit, won't you consider ordering from me?  Click my signature below to take you to my Stampin' Up! order site.  Thank you.

Here is a recap of all the things I have made with the kit so far:

SCRUFFY RAGGEDY GRANDSON'S QUILT

CARS ARE IN MY GRANDSON'S DREAMS I AM SURE.  WHENEVER HE SEES CARS ON TV, ETC. HE BLURTS OUT WHAT KIND OF CAR IT IS AND SOMETIMES EVEN THE YEAR!!  AT 10 YRS OLD NO LESS.  WHAT A BOY!!  HE WILL BE 11 NEXT MONTH AND I ACTUALLY STARTED HIS QUILT EARLY SO I AM NOT STRESSING ABOUT GETTING IT DONE ON TIME (YOU NEVER DO THAT I AM SURE).

THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS, PLEASE REMEMBER.  I HAVE SEWN IT SO MOST OF THE SEAMS ARE FACING THE RIGHT SIDE AND THEN WILL CLIP THEM AND WASH AND DRY IT SEVERAL TIMES TO GET A NICE RUFFLEY FRINGE ON THE EDGES.

THE 2 CHARM PACKS I PURCHASED ARE CALLED: GET YOUR KICKS by Dan Morris for RJR Fabrics.  DO YOU REMEMBER THE SONG:  GET YOUR KICKS ON ROUTE 66?

THE CHARM PACKS ONLY HAVE 36 PIECES IN THEM SO I PURCHASED TWO OF THEM TO MAKE SURE I HAVE ENOUGH.  AND SOMEONE GAVE ME A BUNCH OF PRECUT BLUE JEAN SQUARES THAT I PAIRED THEM UP WITH BUT GUESS WHAT - THEY WERE BIGGER THAN 5 INCHES LIKE THE CHARMS.  WHAT'S A GIRL TO DO?  I DECIDED SINCE IT IS RAGGEDY ALREADY, I WILL JUST ADD A PIECE TO THE BOTTOM OR SIDE OF THE CHARM AND SEW ON.

THEN.....I DECIDED I WANTED SOME ROWS OF FABRIC TO GIVE THE EYES A PLACE TO REST.  (CAN YOU SEE HERE THAT I DON'T HAVE A PATTERN AND AM JUST WINGING IT?) LOW AND BEHOLD I FOUND THIS ONE AT JO ANNS ON SALE THIS WEEK AND GRABBED A YARD.  YIPPEE.

THEY WILL LOOK REALLY GOOD TOGETHER.  I THINK IT IS A KNOCK OFF OF THE DAN MORRIS FABRIC BECAUSE THE CARDS AND ARE SAME VINTAGE TIME.

SO I HAVE ABOUT HALF OF THE FLIMSY DONE SO FAR.  I AM GOING TO SEW THE FABRIC STRIPS ON AND THEN ADD A FEW MORE ROWS AND SEE HOW IT IS LOOKING.

QUESTION FOR YOU QUILTERS OUT THERE:  I HAVE SOME NICE POLAR FLEECE I WOULD LIKE TO USE FOR THE BACKING.  I WAS THINKING I WOULD ACTUALLY USE IT AS BACKING/BATTING AND NOT ADD ANY ADDITIONAL BATTING TO IT.  WILL THAT WORK?  IS THERE ANYTHING SPECIAL I NEED TO KNOW WHEN SEWING THIS POLAR FLEECE TO COTTON FABRICS?

YOUR HELP WOULD BE SINCERELY APPRECIATED!!

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY.  STAY TUNED FOR MORE CONSTRUCTION IN THE NEXT WEEK OR TWO.

P.S.  THE REASON YOU HAVE NOT SEEN MY CHARMING CHEVRONS QUILT COMPLETED IS BECAUSE IT IS WAY TOO SMALL AND I AM WORKING ON ADDING SEVERAL BORDERS TO TRY TO GET IT BIGGER.  SINCE I AM AGAIN WINGING IT, IT IS SLOW GOING BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO RUIN THIS ONE.  I AM LOVING HOW IT LOOKS AND JUST WAITING FOR A BIT MORE FABRIC TO ARRIVE BEFORE I SEW ON SOME MORE BORDERS.

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR IDEAS AND THOUGHTS.

ANOTHER CARD MADE FROM THE BOUTIQUE BOXES PRINTED KIT

Yesterday and today I am showing you the cards I made from the Boutique Boxes Designer Printed Kit (pg 25 from the Spring Catalog,  $7.95 plus S&H) This kit was so fun to work with and to see all the things included in this kit.  It is originally put together to make 8 gift card holders with 8 mini note cards included.  But all the wonderful dies, baker's twine, buttons, dimensionals, etc. included  makes it a perfect kit for making additional cards as well.

I used summer starfruit card stock as the card base.  The border on the left is two different die cuts included in the set.  The kraft with polka dots paper is actually part of the gift card holder that I cut and then distressed the edges for my dsp layer.  (If you don't have the distressing tool, you NEED to get it.  Makes easy work of distressing the edges of CS, dsp, etc.)

I used my French Foilage stamp set for the water marks on the card base.  I used crumb cake for the ink.  Then I put three pieces of baker's twine behind the layer before adhering with the dimensionals.  You can see the dimensional on the left because I am taking the photo from the left.  But it does not show looking straight at the card.

Here is a close up of the main focal point of the card.  The doily die cut is next on the dsp layer, followed by a scallop die cut and then a circle die cut.  I tied two tags together with bakers twine and stamped with gray a small key from the retired set called Elementary Elegance.  You could stamp a small "TO YOU" or "HELLO", etc. here.

I thought the key was really a sweet hint that someone has the key to my heart!~

One final look at the card.  You know, I am going to remove that one dimensional - it is bugging me that you can see it from the left side.  grrr.  But it is easy to remove and now I feel better!!  :-)

Hope you enjoyed this card made from the Boutique Boxes Designer Printed Kit (pg 25 from the Spring Catalog, $7.95 plus S&H)   If you decide to order this kit, won't you consider ordering it from me?  Just click my signature line below to go to my shopping page.

BOUTIQUE BOXES KIT ALSO MAKES CARDS

I used the Boutique Boxes Designer Printed Kit (pg 25 from the Spring Catalog $7.95 plus S&H)  to make some fun cards for my next card class.  This kit includes notecards, gift card holders, buttons, bakers twine, dimensionals, and die cutes like borders, feathers, buttons, scallops, tags and so much more.  It is a fun kit and it can make so many more things than the gift card holders.

I designed this one from the feather inspiration.  I cut the border die cut in half and used that at the top.  Then I poked out the feather die cuts and used the negative image as a stencil and used crumb cake ink and sponged inside the negative image.  You see a little bit of white on the top stenciled image - that is because I thought I would craft vanilla ink and it did not look good.  So I switched to crumb cake and thought I covered it all, but it "bled" through a little bit.  I will keep this for my "template" and make another one to send out.  Do you do that too?  If it has a small mistake, smudge, etc, keep it as a "template" to remember how to make another one to give away?

I put a score line down the two solid feathers and glued only one side of them down. The printed feather is totally glued down.  I used the die circle and the button and bakers twine.  I used my Itty Bitty Banners stamp set for the sentiment and stamped it on summer starfruit cs with gray ink.  I cut out the banner and glued it in a wave" for some added height and texture. Also tied twine on that banner.

Hope you enjoyed this card from the Boutique Boxes Kit in the Summer Catalog.  Stay tuned tomorrow for another card made from this kit.  This was so fun to have almost all the supplies in front of me before I started creating with them.  I AM LOVING THESE KITS.

If you want to make some of your own cards from this kit, won't you consider ordering from me?  Just click my signature line below to go to my SU store.

THE CUTEST GIFT BAG EVER

THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE CUTEST GIFT BAG E.V.E.R.    I mean, could it be any cuter?  I saw this on fellow demonstrator Kathy Parlitsis' blog (thanks Kathy!!) and knew I had to make one.

This is made with a lunch bag!!  The baja bree cs is stamped with a large background stamp (mine was retired canvas, but there is also linen, etc. stamps) and then sponged all over.

White gel pen stitches and the sponging all over makes it look like a fabric or denim fabric bag, doesn't it?  LOVE IT!!

Here is a side view so you can see the lunch bag.  Did you notice the cute flower on the front?  Can you tell what I made it from?

Yes, the flower is made from mini cupcake papers smooched and glued together and then spritzed with some baja breeze ink.  CUTENESS  I had been HOARDING THESE for months before I have now finally used them here!!

Crumb cake card stock sponged and white gel pen stitches added is what the handles attach to.  Got the cute Texas star brads from the clearance rack. (not really specifically Texas, but I like to think so!) grin.

There you have it.  A fun and embellished gift bag for your special friend, customer or family member.

Won't you leave me a comment and tell me what you think of it?

Stay creative, my friends.
