BLENDABILITIES

HEY BLOGGIES,

Tomorrow is the day you can begin ordering your very own BLENDABILITIES alcohol marker sets.  Each set comes with THREE markers in the color family - light, medium and dark - for the price of $11.95 PER SET.  This is a very reasonable price and you can compare it with other brands to see just what a reasonable offer this is!!

Why alcohol markers?  They can be blended or shaded without the lines that most markers leave and are reactivated whenever you add another alcohol marker.  PLUS the color is rich, vibrant and very saturated.  THEY ARE AWESOME.

I will be offering a beginner's class to teach you some techniques I have learned since using alcohol markers in my projects.  The colors above from left to right are:

  • Daffodil Delight Assortment (Item #130998 - $11.95)
  • Pumpkin Pie Assortment  (Item #130997 - $11.95)
  • Cherry Cobbler Assortment (Item #130995 - $11.95)
  • Coastal Cabana Assortment (Item #131000 - $11.95)
  • Rich Razzleberry Assortment (Item #131003 - $11.95)

NOT SHOWN BUT NOW AVAILABLE FOR YOU TO ORDER:

SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY - BEAUTIFUL FLOWER CARD

HEY BLOGGIES,

Happy Friday to everyone.  Hope your week was productive and enjoyable.  I had a good week.  My hubby got me a John Deer Riding Mower and I had the BEST TIME driving that thing all over our new property getting it all mowed.  I hit a couple of high roots and knocked the deck off, so my son and hubby put a screw with lug nut on it to keep it from getting knocked off so easily.  Wow, the yard looks so nice now that the "hay has been mowed".  ha ha  It is looking good.  And last Friday we had a bush hog here to clear the back half of our property to get it ready for planting pasture for the horse.  He also went down the fenceline so we can get our fence put in too.  So very productive week.

We have a very simple and easy to work with sketch for you for this week:

And here is my card using that sketch:

  • Marker tips are made of nylon; superior to polyester that can fray.
  • Color coded caps.
  • Stampin' Up! markers coordinate wonderfully with our cardstock, and can be used with transparent sheets.
Seven "rules" to help you get amazing results every time with your Blendabilities, thanks to fellow demo Mary F:
  1. Use Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (132708).
  2. Don't worry about light sources and angles.
  3. Use the fine point end for coloring and blending.
  4. Protect your work surface from ink saturating through the card stock.
  5. Start with the darkest color.
  6. Leave lots of white space open to fill with the lightest color.
  7. Work one area at a time (one leaf, one petal).

FRINGE SCISSORS FLOWER FOR CARD

HEY BLOGGIES,

I had a card class last night and we made LOTS OF FLOWERS.  I call it CARD CANDY - making things to have on hand and then when you need a card - BAM - you put one of those card candies on it and you are good to go!!

Here is a card I made with a fringe scissors flower - looks like an astor to me - that we made at card class and I whipped up the card in a few minutes this morning.

Enjoy!!
I love purple and pink together and this DSP was the perfect base for me to develop my card around those two colors,

Up close view of the flower we made at card class with our fringe scissors.  I just added a bitty punch flower in the center to complete it.

I matched the scallop edge punch with my scallop embossing folder and then added a thin paper strip ribbon on the side.  I know the sketch dhows the stripe behind the main element, but I took creative license and put the scallop only on one side.  It was just visually better for my card I think.

This card is for SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY.  Here is the sketch we are using this week:

Won't you stop over at SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY and see what other team members have created for you?  We would LOVE for you to participate also.

FATHER'S DAY CARD FOR MY SON

HEY BLOGGIES,

Several days ago I posted the Father's Day card we made at my new card group at a local church.  Today I created the same card but wanted it to be more specific for my SON.  So I used one of the stamps that came in MY PAPER PUMPKIN kit last month and now it is a Father's Day Card for my son:

This is in it's see through envelope ready for me to give it to my son today.  But I wanted you to see how cute this TINY TAG is with some bakers twine on the end of it.

Here is a better closeup so you could see the SON tag.  Isn't it stinkin' cute??!!  LOVE IT.

Here is another photo of this card in the Landscape mode from our class.   I wanted you to see the STRIPES EMBOSSING FOLDER and how cool that looks.

INKING AN EMBOSSING FOLDER TO CREATE A CARD

HEY BLOGGIES,

I have a new technique to share with you.  It was so fun to create the background paper for this card.  Here is what I did.

First, I chose an embossing folder with a bit of a pattern. Then use the side with the manufacturer name on it and open it up to that side. (Where the word Stampin' Up! is)

Add ink in by either of these methods:  direct from ink pad to embossing folder, or using daubers to apply it to the folder.  Use several colors and also leave some places blank as well.

Next, use a fine mist spritzer and spritz water onto the embossing folder.  Then place a piece of water color paper, rough side down on the ink, and carefully press with your fingers all over the paper.

Remove the watercolor paper very carefully and set aside to dry.  Put another piece of watercolor paper onto the embossing folder to pick up more of the ink.  Follow as above to press it into the ink and then to remove carefully.

After it is dry, you can cut it to the size you want for a background or accent piece, OR you can punch it for your embellishments.  I did both on the following card:

I used whisper white as my card base, with tangerine tango as my background layer under my watercolor print.  The two pieces of accent card stock are real red.  There is a tangerine tango layer behind the punched flower.

I punched my flower out so that the swirl is right in the middle of my flower.  Pretty cool, huh?
My banner is thin under the flower and gets wider as it gets to the banner end.  Same with the piece I stamped "thank you" on.  I like that shape a lot lately.

I used the petite petals punch with tangerine and red for the flowers in the upper right corner with some multi colored beads adhered in the center.

Hope you have enjoyed my card.  I am entering it at SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY this week.  Why don't you click and go on over to our site to see what the other team members created with this sketch created by Kim:

SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY CHALLENGE

HEY BLOGGIES,

I am back with a card for Sketch Frenzy Friday this week.  Here is the sketch:

I also entered my card at TECHNO MONDAY CHALLENGE.  Here is that sketch:

I used LOVELY ROMANCE stamp set to create my card:

I used crumb cake card stock for my card base and used a layer of cajun craze for the next layer followed with another crumb cake layer in top that I stamped my background on with crumb cake  ink.  I used one of the small design stamps from LOVELY ROMANCE and stamped it in alternating rows.

I then stamped on a strip of cajun craze card stock with the same color ink using the stamp that has three designs in a row,  This was adhered under my main sentiment which is stamped with soft suede ink on crumb cake and die cut out with the matching shape from the Chalk Talk Framelits.  A few different sized rhinestones complete this sentiment,

Here is a close up of the sentiment.  I have someone special in mind to send this card too who has been going through some tough trials but is still smiling and optimistic.  That makes me see how AMAZING she is!!

The final step to this simple card is cajun craze punched out with the little flower from the Punch Pack set and glued on top of the background shapes with a very small rhinestone in the middle.

VOILA - complete in under 10 minutes.  This is the kind of fast and easy card I needed today.  It is the first time in 2 weeks that I have had 10 minutes to sit and take a breath and do something fun,  Moving is so very stressful.  I didn't think about it because I have not moved for 24 years.  But we are getting settled into our new home and I am starting to get ahead of all these stacks of boxes.

Being in the country now, we are allowed to burn our paper trash,  So each day my reward for putting away my belongs is to take the boxes and packing material out to the burn pile and set it on fire.  Really!!  I love to play with fires and I think that is why I like to go camping - the fires each night!!  Crazy confessions, I know.

Thanks for stopping by.  Let me know how you like this card, won't you?

The free gift is my way of saying THANK YOU for choosing me as your demonstrator and for placing an order during the first month of the NEW CATALOG.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE:  We have moved into our new country home and are absolutely loving it.  So very peaceful.  Whip-poor-wills calling every evening, deer in the back yard every early morning, and so many beautiful song birds to keep me company.

Our Pomeranian, Jewel, is fascinated by all the smells of "wild beasts" every time she goes out to do her business.  First she must sniff and bark as if the critters were still there.  Then she settles down to think about the task at hand.

We have a worker coming to clear off the back acreage so we can get a pasture going for the future horse.  Have to get his/her home all set up before we then begin to scout for that perfect addition to our family.

Even out here in the country I had to stop and assist a slow moving turtle across the road.  I think it doesn't matter where they live, they al
