BLOG HOP DAY THREE - A BIG FINISH

Hi Stampers,  Yippee it is FRIDAY.  What are you planning for this weekend?  We are going to get up early tomorrow morning and go to a State Park - Brazos Bend State Park here in Texas.  It is a beautiful wild setting with lots of lakes and ponds.  And you know what else?  ALLIGATORS.  Yep - it is fun to see the gators in the ponds and lakes.  Also, they have some wonderful birds that come through and stay a bit here.  Last time we were there, we saw roseate spoonbills.  I LOVE THEM.  So pretty and rosey pink with their funny shaped bills.  In the spring they enjoy staying around this park getting fattened up and ready to nest.

We had wanted to camp there this weekend but decided too late and it is all reserved.  So a day trip is what we will do tomorrow.  What are YOU going to do for the weekend?

WE ALL hope you have enjoyed our Glitter Queens Blog Hop.  It was a smaller group this time because many of the Glitter Queens are getting ready to leave for Disney World tomorrow!!  How fun is that??  I used to live just an hour and a half away and went to Disney a LOT.  When it first opened, they gave special discounts to Florida Residents so we took advantage of it and went often.  They don't do that anymore, I don't think.

On to my projects for you today....

I have so many ideas rumbling around in my head that it was hard to decide which ones to show you.  Wish I could show them all to you, but I decided on these.  Hope you like them:

I ordered this stamp in FRENCH because I like to use French words on some of my cards.  This is the first card I have sewn with my sewing machine and I like how it turned out!!  I think I will do some more sewing on future cards as well.  The pennant punch was used here on Spice Cake DSP (retired) for both the smooth edge and the scalloped edges of the pennant.  Then I sewed them to a piece of 1/8" ribbon and attached the banner with a brad on each end.  I used my corner rounder punch to smooth out the corners of my "bonjour" stamped image to give it that smooth sleek look and sponged it with early espresso.  You like?

I scallop punched the bottom espresso piece and put it up under the pool party layer before I sewed it on.

'OWL YA' DOING?

Yesterday I told you how much I LOVE owls and our owl punch, so I thought I would show you an idea I did last year to make magnetic calendars with our owl punch.  I put magnetic sheet on the back so it can be on your bulletin board, fridge or anywhere you can put a magnet.  I purchased the little calendars with sticky on the back from an on-line supplier.  These are great teacher gifts too!!

Here is another cute little guy on the Play Date DSP *retired.  Some of this paper is up on the clearance rack or on the retired accessories list.  If you have some favorite DSP, go get it now before it is totally gone!!  I just got some Ice Cream Parlor paper because I LOVED that last year and wanted to have a bit more to do some projects!!

The punches are the scalloped circle punch, the large circle punch, the owl punch and the little leaves sizzlets die.  You can also use the bird punch for the branch and leaves if you have that.  Doesn't the owl's vest look so cute with that little flower right in the middle?  That is just the DSP and I centered the flower just right.  And I added a half circle as sleepy eyelids on top of his circle eyes.

Only a few more days to be able to order Sweet Shop suite items from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I LOVE the paper with the cute cupcakes on it. I used a small circle punch to make it look like a border paper.  Isn't that a great idea?  We need to use up every bit of this adorable paper, don't we??!!  ( And the wisteria wonder embossed polka dot paper in that pack is adorable too!!)  Here I used the CUPCAKE PUNCH for the large cupcake on the large scalloped circle.  I used dazzling diamonds on the icing, but sponged a bit of pool party blue before I put the diamonds on.  The cherry can be made with the glimmer paper in red, OR by heat embossing white card stock with cherry embossing powder.  Your choice how you do it!!  I LOVE how the pool party baker's twine looks on this card.  SO FUN.  Get all your favorite things from the Occasions Mini NOW. It is only until April 30th that you can order from this mini catalog.  HURRY!! :-)

DON'T FORGET TO LEAVE A COMMENT TO BE IN THE DRAWING FOR MY BLOG CANDY. I am giving away a stamp set as well as paper, ribbon and other goodies I can fit into the envelope.  And you MUST be a follower of my blog as well.

Ready to hop on to the next blog?  Go to Jan's blog next, ok?

HERE'S TO INKY FINGERS, Y'ALL.  Have a creative weekend, ya hear?  I'll do the drawing for the blog candy on Sunday afternoon.  Check back then.
