FINAL QUILT COMPLETED FOR QUILTS FOR KIDS ORG

IT TOOK ME A LITTLE LONGER TO DESIGN THIS LAST QUILT WE MADE FOR QUILTS FOR KIDS ORG.  A FRIEND DONATED A FABRIC PANEL THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MADE INTO A SOFT BOOK FOR AN INFANT.  I CUT THE LITTLE BOOK PAGES APART AND THEN MY JOURNEY BEGAN TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO TO MAKE THIS QUILT.

I WENT WITH THE SOFT COLORS OF LIGHT BLUE, LIGHT GREEN, YELLOW AND PINK ON THE FABRIC PANEL AND FOUND SOME PRETTY SHADES OF THOSE COLORS TO CREATE THE BLOCKS AND STRIPS AS WELL AS BORDERS FOR THE QUILT.

FIRST I SEWED SOME STRIPED FABRIC BORDERS AROUND EACH PRINTED BLOCK.  I WANTED TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN THE PANELS AND THE BLOCKS.  THEN I CREATED  FOUR PATCH BLOCKS TO BORDER EACH FABRIC PRINTED BLOCK.  I WANTED SOME SASHING AS WELL SO I USED THE STRIPS IN BETWEEN EACH ROW.

AS YOU CAN SEE THERE ARE 6 FABRIC PANEL BLOCKS AND THE HORIZONTAL SASHING  BETWEEN THESE ROWS OF BLOCKS ARE DIFFERENT COLORS OF BLUES AND GREENS.  THERE IS A FINAL SMALL EDGING OF THE STRIPED FABRIC AS THE FINISHING TOUCH.

A CLOSE UP OF ONE OF THE PANEL BLOCKS WITH THE STRIPED BORDER.  I THINK THIS IS SUCH A SWEET QUILT WITH A FOCUS ON POOH AND TIGGER AND FRIENDS.

THE SOFT COLORS OF THE QUILT BLOCKS COMPLIMENT THE FEELING OF GENTLE COMFORT AND A WORLD OF DISCOVERY THAT THE PANELS DEPICT.

HERE IS THE BACK OF THE QUILT.  I USED A SOFT YELLOW FABRIC AND THEN DID SOME IMPROV BLOCKS AND PIECING.  I ADDED ONE OF THE FABRIC PANELS AND SOME 4 PATCHES, AS WELL AS SOME PIECED STRIPS AND SOME YELLOW GINGHAM BLOCKS.

THIS IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT IMPROV FOR THE BACKING AND I AM PLEASED WITH HOW IT CAME OUT.

THIS IS A VIEW OF THE YELLOW GINGHAM BLOCK WITH THE SASHING AND PIECING AROUND IT.

THANKS FOR VISITING.  I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR COMMENTS ON THIS ADORABLE QUILT.

  1. What a great idea to incorporate the fabric book pages into a quilt. It looks so good with the bright pages and the pastels around it.
