QUILT TOP COMPLETED

HEY BLOGGIES,

I finished my four patch baby quilt.  WOO HOO - first finish of 2016.  I took some seams apart and added a bright turquoise strip in between the rows.  It needed a POP of color.  I love how it looks now:

The background solid is actually a light orange.  It is a cloudy grey week so the color isn't showing up correctly in my photos.

I have a soft turquoise polar fleece for the backing. It will be soft and snuggly for a new baby.  Donating this to our local food bank charity.

Thanks for visiting!!

MORE FOUR PATCH QUILT CONSTRUCTION PHOTOS

HEY BLOGGIES,

Today I am putting the sashing around my quilt and then adding the backing.  In the meantime, I have more photos of what I have accomplished so far:

A close up of one of my four patches so you can see the lovely little chevrons in the fabric.

The solid squares are a light orange, but my camera didn't pick up the correct color.

Got all the four patches together and now I am sewing the sashing in turquoise today.  Stay tuned for more photos tomorrow or Thursday.

Thanks for stopping by.

STARTING A FOUR SQUARE QUILT ON THE LAST DAY OF THE YEAR

HEY BLOGGIES,

Yesterday was overcast and drizzling and it just felt like a sewing kind of day.  I got a chevron charm pack from Southern Fabrics in my mailbox yesterday and I just had to start making a quilt with them.

I opened them up and decided what colors I wanted to put together in each four square.  The colors are just yummy.

First I sewed two together in assembly line sewing.

Then I took them over to the ironing board, cut them apart and ironed the seams to the dark.

Next is sewing rows together to make the complete four patch, and then ironing the seams.

I am now working on the solid squares being cut and sewn to the four patches.  More photos tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
