NEW TECHNIQUE FROM REGIONAL MEETINGS

HEY BLOGGIES,

I have seen a new technique on line lately and it seems to have been shown at some of the regional meetings around the US this summer.  I believe it is called black and white.  It is "kind of" like a chalkboard technique but different. Donna at Butternut Sage shared a card with this technique this week and it reminded me that I wanted to try it.  Thanks Donna!!

The technique is where you take a marker and make lines close together for coloring, shading, etc.  Most people use a black marker on white paper.  But it can look like a chalkboard technique if you use a chalk marker on black paper.  I changed it up a bit by using some shimmer paint on light grey paper.

First, I used versamark ink on smoky slate card stock and then heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Next, I took my winter frost shimmer paint and my aqua marker and drew lines on the petals.

Then I chose gray ink and my aqua marker and colored in the folded over petals and the stamens.  I used daffodil delight for the pollen on the center of the flower.  Can you see the shine of the frost shimmer paint?  I LOVE that.

I then put the image on a daffodil delight layer and then on top of a cardboard textured gray piece.  I added 3 yellow square nail art jewels and a small yellow bow.

I hope you enjoyed my card.  You should try this technique that is almost monochromatic with just a pop of color.  I really like the look - it has an elegant feel about it.

I have entered this at SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY.  Here is the sketch for this week from Kathy Clark that I followed:

Why don't you hop over to the challenge site to see what my other team mates created with this fun sketch?  We would LOVE to see what YOU create with it.

I have also entered the TRY STAMPIN' ON TUESDAY challenge. Their sketch was this:

  1. Very nice card Jenny. The textured cardstock really gives it a nice dimension. And the flower is beautiful. I want to see this one in person!
