BEAUTIFUL SPRING FLOWERS EVERYWHERE...

Oh how I LOVE spring!!  I love the weather, cool yet comfortable.  I love all the different greens of the new leaves and plants sending out shoots towards the sun.  And, I especially LOVE the flowers!!  We have wild flowers all along the sides of the roads here in southeast Texas.  First came the purple clovers, millions of little furry heads of purple bending in the breeze.  Next came some little dainty wisteria colored mini flowers all along tall stems.  Then some white medium sized flowers on even taller stems.  Now here we are at the bluebonnet season.  Texans LOVE bluebonnets.  Here and there the patches are so dense with  blue that it takes your breath away!!  Every weekend you can spot the best patches because there are so many cars parked along the roadway while they are snapping photos of their families in the flowers.  Wonderful memory making.

I have made a spring card to depict one more thing I LOVE about spring - the BUTTERFLIES.  They can be found in droves as they sip nectar from all these fantastic wild flowers.

I stamped one of the butterflies from the "Papillion" stamp set in different colors, then I fussy cut around them with my paper snips.  I put them in different directions to have some action amongst them and to make a nice edge to trim around.

I then took lighter markers and colored in parts of the butterflies.  Aren't they beautiful?  I did a "boo boo" ( you NEVER do that, do you?) when I stamped my 'Celebrate Today' sentiment, so I had to stamp it again on a scrap and glue it on the card.  I guess i I had put a layer behind it, no one would have been the wiser, huh?  Hindsight is wonderful...   But let's just say I WANTED it to be on it's own layer of whisper white, that is how I planned it!! (wink wink).

I hope you have enjoyed my spring butterfly card stamped in tempting turquoise, gumball green,  lucky limeade and primrose petals.

Won't you leave a comment and tell me what your favorite thing is about spring?

Thanks for stopping by.  Stay creative, my friends...

Now on to my creations:

First is this wonderful gift box to hold cards and envelopes.  I saw this box on my fellow demo, Tanya Bell's blog.  It is made from one 12 x 12 sheet of the cardboard that backs a package of designer paper (free cardboard to recycle).

I used the diagonal score plate to score a few lines, then snipped out only 3 pieces and VOILA - ready to make the box.

I came up with this idea to cover it - use a 12 x 12 piece of designer paper of your choice, and with Tombow glue, adhere it to the cardboard piece BEFORE you adhere your box together.  Easy Peasy!!

A decorative label punch is used for the closure.  Your point of the lid slips behind the punch.  Cute, huh?

My first card:

Wisteria Wonder is the card base with only a portion run through the Vines textured impressions embossing folder.  I used HALF of a doily (only $2.95 for 25 doilies in the spring catalog!!) behind my flowers that are stamped and die cut with my BIG SHOT and the Secret Garden Framelits.  Calypso Coral ink for the flowers, each one stamped right after the other to make 3 different shades of the coral color.

Also die cut the leaves from Lucky Limeade CS.  I used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the flowers.  I used some retired mini beads for the centers of the flowers.

I used the other half of the doily as a stencil on the envelope and sponged Wisteria Wonder ink around it, and then removed the doily.  This is where you would write the mailing address of this beautiful card.  Isn't it fun??!!

Tomorrow I will show you another card that is in this gift set.

I would love to hear your comments/suggestions.  Won't you leave me some love?

Stay inky my friends!!  And if you need to order any supplies, please consider ordering from my site by clicking my signature line below.  Thank you.
