ADDING A BIT MORE TO SOME COMPLETED CARDS

HEY BLOGGIES,

Have you ever done this...think a card if finished and you add it to the finished pile, only to feel like it needs a bit more the next time you see it?  Well, that happened to me recently this weekend.  I was putting all my finished cards into my special "finished" container when I just felt like something was missing on a few of them.

This is what the first card looked like when I blogged about it a week or so ago:

I used the WORK OF ART stamp set with Blackberry Bliss ink and Mossy Meadow for the leaves, then brushed on a bit of champagne glimmer paint for some light.  I loved it when I made it, but then the next time I looked at it, it seemed it wasn't quite finished.  So here is what I added:

Since it was an ART piece by the name of the stamp, I added some artistic drawing with a black fine tip marker.  I double outlined each of the petals of the flower and leaves, AND I added some special doodling around the edge of the card for added interest.

What do you think?  I got the idea from my friend Tammy.  You have heard about her before.  We are stamping buddies and she is very artistic.  She created a similar card with me and then added the doodles and gave me the idea.  I am trying to download her card from my text messenger but it won't let me.  Once I figure it out, I will post her beautiful cards.

Here are two cards from MY PAPER PUMPKIN SEPTEMBER KIT that I posted before:

Here they are now with some added BLING of flower and smiley face charms, some splatters and the sequins that came with the kit.

I would love to know if you have updated some of your cards after you thought they were finished.  And if you did, what did you do to them.

Good to see you - stop back again, won't you?

PLAYING WITH DIE CUTTING AND THE BIG SHOT

HEY BLOGGIES,

My friend, Tammy, likes to try new and different things.  She purchased some thin sheets of veneer to make some die cuts to try it out.  IT IS AWESOME.

Here is a card I made with this wood veneer "thanks" line die cut.  The cardstock is Mossy Meadow:

It is so simple and so beautiful I couldn't bear to add anything else to it.  So here is my CLEAN AND SIMPLE CARD FOR SATURDAY.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?  What unusual materials have YOU used with your die cuts.

DIE CUT FLOWER CARD

HEY BLOGGIES,

TODAY I have a summery flower THANKS card to share with you.

I used both current and retired stamp sets on this one.  The current stamp set is TAPE IT stamp set.  There are all sorts of patterned washi tape style stamps.  I also used Gorgeous Grunge and Secret Garden stamp sets.  And I can't remember the name of the stamp set that has that adorable little bee.  But he is my favorite little guy to tuck here and there on my cards.

Once I got started, I went to town on making a stack of thank you cards for my customers.  It is so easy once it is designed to make a bunch at the same time.

I am entering this card in the SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY challenge.  Stop over there to see what my other team members have created this week, won't you?

SMILE DIE CUT CARD

HEY BLOGGIES,

I have another AUGUST PAPER PUMPKIN KIT special project for you today.  Hope you enjoyed the one I posted for you yesterday.  Look below if you missed it so you can see some ideas of creatively using your kit.

I used mellow moss for my card base and cut the striped designer paper to just fit behind the 'SMILE" die cut.  I sponged around the white card stock with strawberry slush ink and a sponge. I used my corner rounder to round all the corners.

That's it!!  Easy peasy and FUN.  A cute quick card for someone who needs a SMILE!!

DIE CUT THANK YOU CARDS

HEY BLOGGIES,

I have been making some cards from this month's PAPER PUMPKIN CARD KIT.  I have cut things up, added card stock and generally changed them to be a bit different than the instructions call for.  You know me if you have visited me at all - I love to change things up and make them ...well...ME or MINE!!

The kit had a complete scored card of the striped designer paper, but I cut it to be a layer on top of the card stock strawberry slush card base with first a layer of mellow moss card stock then the striped layer.   The die cut "THANKS" is the top layer, where I adhered some 1/4" pieces of paper stripes.  Then I punched two small scalloped circles to make a flower with a small dot in the center of the flower.

I then used the dot stamp with strawberry slush stamped three times without reinking, then the mellow moss ink the same way.

Hope you enjoyed this AUGUST PAPER PUMPKIN project.  Come back tomorrow for another creative way to use parts of the kit, wont you?

SUNBURST CARD

HEY BLOGGIES,

I have a fun card for you that I cased from some trades at Leadership in Houston this spring.  Unfortunately, there was no name on the card swap to give her credit.  But I did love her card and made this card similar to it.

I cut the pieces of designer paper in the shape of a ray of the sun and put them together like puzzle pieces locking against each other to create this fun background.  Then I used the scalloped oval punch in strawberry slush card stock for the background layer of the sentiment.  Silver 1/8" ribbon compliments the card which is on a piece of embossed coastal cabana and black card stock.

Thanks for stopping by.  I entered this card into our SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY CHALLENGE.  Why don't you stop by to see what the other design team members have prepared for you?  We would LOVE TO HAVE YOU PARTICIPATE.

Here is the sketch to use this week:
I put my ribbon the other way which is just fine to do a few changes to the sketch.

NO LINE STAMPING AND WATER COLORING

HEY BLOGGIES,

I LOVE BLOGGIE LAND!!  All the amazing talented crafters who are willing to share their knowledge and talents with everyone is awesome.  That is how I found this technique called NO LINE STAMPING.

Basically you stamp your image with a very very light color ink and then you use either water colors, or aqua pen and ink to color in your image.

I used stamped off Hello Honey ink for my faint images.  Then I tried both water coloring AND aqua painter and ink,..the smaller of the butterflies is my water colored image and the larger one is reinkers.  Which do you like better?

I did the small butterfly with water colors first.  AND because no lines is a new technique for me, I ended up shading all around the outer edge which kind of defeated the purpose of the technique.

The larger butterfly was the second one I did and I used an aqua painter and ink for this one.  I felt a bit more confident after practicing on the first butterfly and think I did a better job as well.

Here is a close up on the large ink colored butterfly.  I used hello honey, coastal cabana and a little touch of soft suede,.  Then because all butterflies should be absolutely awesome, I used Wink of Stella clear glitter pen on the insides of the wings,

The other two accessories I used are mini square sequins and a die cut "thanks".  I layered the water color paper on a very thin piece if black cardstock and then onto coastal cabana.

I like that I stamped two very small butterflies with the stamped-off hello honey on the card as well.  Makes it look a bit like an architectural drawing I think.

Thanks for stopping by.  I have entered this card into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - anything goes.  Stop by and see what else was entered for their challenge.

Here the two side panels are opened but the top is flipped back in the closed position.

Here the top is flipped up and you can see how the two side panels are just half the size of the card front.

PERFECT PEACOCK

HEY BLOGGIES,

I just opened my new PERFECT PEACOCK large single stamp from SU! and couldn't wait to start using it.  I tackled a HUGE IDEA for my first card with this adorable stamp:

First photo above is the peacock stamped on very vanilla and the tail stamped on a piece of patterned paper and then fussy cut out and added with dimensionals.  I also added some light grey shading with my aqua painter and ink.  The sequins are random colors from a generic pack I had.  The body is wisteria wonder using the aqua painter again, and then shading added with a marker.

Then I began auditioning background layers to see which one I liked,  Here is pink pirouette.  OOOh, I like this soft look.

Next I auditioned wisteria wonder.  That looks very soft and nice also.  Makes the peacock body stand out more, don't you think?

Next I tried rose red and I am really liking this.  It is a big more saturated in color than the other two I previously tried.  Yes, this is definitely on my list.

I ended up going with calypso coral.  And I created my sentiment with that same color.  I think it brought out more brightness of the sequins and was a good contrast to the pink roses.  I even added some coral in the rose shading to bring that color in more and have it stand out.  What do you think?  I believe ANY of those layers would have made a wonderful card and I might even make some more and do each of those colors.

Thanks for stopping by.  I will share the other cards we make in my Perfect Peacock card class this weekend, so please stop back by, won't you?
