NO LINE COLORING SINGLE BLOOM

Hey Bloggies,

Sorry I forgot to post this for this morning.  Hope those of you that came early have come back to see the post.

Here is the SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY SKETCH from Elizabeth K:

I also used the sketch and challenge from FRIDAY MASHUP #190 and their Color Challenge #45:

I call this NO LINE WATER COLORING because I used the same color for the outline of the stamp as I did for the coloring.  It gives it a wonderful 3=D effect.

I used my cherry cobbler ink for the stamp outline, then used cherry cobbler Blendabilities for my coloring.

This up close view lets you see how 3=D it really looks.  The lightest parts of the few petals was created with the color remover.

I used the flesh-tones Blendabilities, old olive Blendabilities and daffodil delight Blendabilities for the inside stamens and middle of the flower.  I used  several watercolor marker colors for the splatters.

Thanks for stopping by.

KIND KOALA CARD FOR SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY

HEY BLOGGIES,

How has your week been so far?  We FINALLY have a sunny, blue sky day.  It is not warm, but the sunshine and the blue sky is so wonderful I DON"T CARE.

We were outside most of the day yesterday with our two horses.  I was using the shedding curry brush to try to get some of their shedding winter hair off them.  They have been rubbing on the trees, on the fences and constantly seem to be itchy.  I know how it feels when I got for my haircut and a few pieces of hair get on my neck, so I knew I had to start getting that shedding hair off of them.

They enjoyed the "spa day treatment" as I call it when I groom them.  They love the attention and the brushing feels so good to them.  Oh My Goodness - I would stuff a large pillow with what I got off of them after just 10-15 minutes of brushing on each one.

Ok.  I would like to show you the SFF SKETCH we are using this week starting today:

And now here is my take on the sketch using KIND KOALA stamp:

This cute little koala is such a FUN STAMP.  It was an overcast day so the photo was very difficult to achieve.  Wish it was brighter for you to see how cute the card is for real.  I used the Secret Garden stamp set and matching dies for the leaves, using my BIG SHOT to die cut them out..  I used my  Wild Wasabi marker to create some shadowing, which didn't quite turn out as I had hoped it would.  But hopefully you get the idea of what I was trying to achieve.

The flower that the koala is holding was colored with the Blendabilities, as well as the koala's ears.  Then I used the yellow marker as a shadowing on the sentiments, and filled in YOU with midnight muse.  Isn't he just the cutest guy with his fun nose and sweet smile?  I LOVE this stamp!!

Hope you enjoyed this card.  And I hope you could see past the bad photography and imagine what it really looks like.

Thanks for stopping by.  Stop over to Sketch Frenzy Friday to see what my other design team members have created, won't you?

Ok, here we go with my cards:

This weekend starts the HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW AND RODEO and it is a BIG DEAL around these parts.  Whether your kids are showing their animals in the livestock show, or if you wanted to see all the animals, or you love the carnival rides or you mostly wanted to see the rodeo competition, you still get to see top recording artists performing.  It IS REALLY A BIG DEAL FOR MORE THAN TWO WEEKS.

Everyone dresses up in their western attire and people watching is definitely part of attending the show.  Today, I used the BOOTIFUL OCCASIONS stamp set.  Here is what the stamp set looks like:

I decided to do a card to go along with our RODEO THEME:

And here is my first card:

I used the Woodgrain Embossing folder and inked it up before pressing it with my BIG SHOT into my pool party card stock.

I like to cut my sentiment off of the main image stamp and use them as two different stamps.  That gives me more versatility in stamping.

I put some linen thread behind the circle punched boot.  I also put some dimensional glimmer on the stars on the boot.  Oh, and I used the light Coastal Cabana Blendability to color the bottom of my boot.

For my second card, I saw this idea on Pinterest from SUDSOL and fell in love with the idea:

\
The dress is made from a cupcake paper that I stamped with the KINDA ECLECTIC stamp set and melon mambo ink.  I used the sweetheart punch to punch out the bodice of the dress and some pompom trim for the belt.

The boots were stamped, colored with markers and then fussy cut out and attached with stampin dimensionals.  I added tiny pearls for some rodeo BLING on the boots.

I used the sentiment from Bootiful Occasions and punched it out with large oval punch, then layered with scalloped oval punch.

One more look at the full card:

I had fun creating this card and hope it gave you a chuckle!! (EVERYTHING is bigger in Texas!!)

Thanks for stopping by.  Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win the blog candy!!

Up next is DEE SLATER.

SCRIBBLE DESIGNS DIGI CHALLENGE

HELLO BLOGGIES:

THANKS FOR VISITING MY BLOG TO SEE THIS ADORABLE SCRIBBLE DESIGN DIGI. SANDY GRACIOUSLY GAVE US THIS DIGI TO CREATE OUR CARD FOR THE CHALLENGE THIS WEEK, AND I MUST SAY THAT I ABSOLUTELY L.O.V.E. THIS CUTE LITTLE DOGGIE IN HIS BUBBLE BATH!!.

I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT OF MAKING HIM 3-D AND THEN THOUGHT I WOULD GO ONE STEP FURTHER WITH PAPER PIECING AND PUFFY TRAPUNTO. SO HERE GOES:

I PRINTED THE DIGI OUT THREE TIMES - ONCE ON NATURALS IVORY AND TWICE ON CRUMB CAKE.  I CUT OUT THE DOGGIE HEAD AND PAWS SEPARATELY BEFORE I ADDED SOME COLOR.  THE HEAD IS RUBBED FROM THE BACK TO CREATE A BOWL LIKE EFFECT AND THEN ADDED PULLED COTTON THERE TO KEEP IT PUFFY.  YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE IT BETTER IN THE CLOSEUP PHOTOS.

HERE YOU CAN SEE HOW THE PAWS HAVE BEEN POPPED UP ON TWO STAMPIN' DIMENSIONALS TO GET THEM HIGHER THAN THE HEAD AND THE BATH TUB.

I USED ALCOHOL MARKERS (SU BLENDABILITIES) AS WELL AS REGULAR SU MARKERS IN MY COLORING AND SHADING.  THEN I ADDED A PUNCHED OUT SILVER GLIMMER DOGGIE TAG POPPED UP ALSO.

I ALSO ADDED SOME FLAT BACKED MINI PEARLS ON THE BUBBLES IN PLACES BECAUSE - WELL, BECAUSE I WANTED TO!!  HEE HEE.  DON'T THEY LOOK SO FUN AS THE BUBBLES??  I LOVE HOW THEY LOOK.  THERE ARE THREE OR FOUR DIFFERENT COLORS OF THEM ON THE CARD.

I ALSO USED MY GORGEOUS GRUNGE STAMP FOR THE SPLATTERS AROUND THE BATHTUB AND A LITTLE BANNER "TICKLED PINK" TO MAKE IT A CONGRATS FOR A BABY GIRL CARD.

THERE YOU HAVE IT.  HOPE YOU HAVE ENJOYED MY CARD I CREATED.  STOP ON OVER TO THE SCRIBBLE DESIGNS DIGI CHALLENGE TO SEE WHAT EVERYONE ELSE CREATED, WON'T YOU?  And if you use an animal of any kind on your card, you can also enter it at their ANIMAL PLANET CHALLENGE as well for two chances to win PRIZES!!

THANKS FOR VISITING.  SEE YA' LATER!!

BLENDABILITIES

HEY BLOGGIES,

Tomorrow is the day you can begin ordering your very own BLENDABILITIES alcohol marker sets.  Each set comes with THREE markers in the color family - light, medium and dark - for the price of $11.95 PER SET.  This is a very reasonable price and you can compare it with other brands to see just what a reasonable offer this is!!

Why alcohol markers?  They can be blended or shaded without the lines that most markers leave and are reactivated whenever you add another alcohol marker.  PLUS the color is rich, vibrant and very saturated.  THEY ARE AWESOME.

I will be offering a beginner's class to teach you some techniques I have learned since using alcohol markers in my projects.  The colors above from left to right are:

  • Daffodil Delight Assortment (Item #130998 - $11.95)
  • Pumpkin Pie Assortment  (Item #130997 - $11.95)

The six additional colors in the catalog (Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake, Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, Smoky Slate, Wisteria Wonder) will be released for customer purchase on August 1.

What Sets Them Apart:
  • The Stampin' Up! rectangular barrel keeps your markers from rolling away!
  • Flat storage helps to maintain the life of each marker.
  • Each marker comes with a tip on each end: brush and fine.
  • Marker tips are made of nylon; superior to polyester that can fray.
  • Color coded caps.
  • Stampin' Up! markers coordinate wonderfully with our cardstock, and can be used with transparent sheets.
Seven "rules" to help you get amazing results every time with your Blendabilities, thanks to fellow demo Mary F:
  1. Use Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (132708).
  2. Don't worry about light sources and angles.
  3. Use the fine point end for coloring and blending.
  4. Protect your work surface from ink saturating through the card stock.
  5. Start with the darkest color.
  6. Leave lots of white space open to fill with the lightest color.
  7. Work one area at a time (one leaf, one petal).

SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY CHALLENGE CARD WITH BLENDABILITIES

HEY BLOGGIES,

I hope your Mother's Day weekend was as nice as mine was.  All five kids called me to wish me a happy day and my eldest, Spencer, had us over for dinner.  They gave me a new pear tree to plant at our new home.  I LOVE IT.  What a thoughtful gift!!

On to my card today.  I used the SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY CHALLENGE SKETCH to create my card.  Here is the sketch:

I also used the sketch from Case this Sketch:

And here is my take on the sketches, using new SU catalog items:

I used some DSP from the new Paper Pack called MOONLIGHT.  It has the 5 new In-Colors in the prints, but I chose a print that was only one color - NEW BLACKBERRY BLISS.  I also used the NEW single stamp called BLENDED BLOOM, which is just perfect to also use the NEW BLENDABILITIES to color the flower.  The smaller flower is from Secret Garden.  I added 3 mini nail art rhinestones for a bit of sparkle and the sentiment bubble which are not from SU.

Do you like the fun shape I cut the left side of my card?  My friend, Tammy, suggested using a die to do that to add a little bit of interest there behind the card stock and designer paper.  I like how it looks too!!

I used the Rich Razzleberry set and the Daffodil Delight set of the BLENDABILITIES to color my flower.  I also added just a little bit of the regular water color marker in BLACKBERRY BLISS.

See that ribbon?  Yes, that is NEW also...it is silky satin and feels so wonderful and is also in the blackberry bliss in-color.  LOVE IT.  I used a button that is not from SU for the middle of my flower.

Thanks for stopping by.  Please hop over to CAS(E) THIS SKETCH and SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY to see what the other design team members have created for your enjoyment, won't you?

COLORING, BLENDING AND ALCOHOL MARKERS ARE COMING TO SU!

HEY BLOGGIES,

While at Leadership last week, several announcements were made and I would like to share one of those with you today.

WE ARE GETTING ALCOHOL MARKERS FOR SHADING AND COLORING IMAGES!!!  YES, YOU READ IT RIGHT - ALCOHOL MARKERS FOR SHADING AND COLORING!!

We will ALSO be selling MEMENTO BLACK INK to stamp with because it WILL NOT SMEAR when using alcohol markers.  They will be called:

  • Blendabilities.  I love coloring stamped images with either markers or aqua painters and stamp pads, but we will soon have another option for coloring.  BLENDABILITIES.  They will come in 3 shade of one color - light, medium and dark.  (Think of Copics 00, 02 and 04)  There will be 12 colors introduced in the first go round, along with a color remover in case we have a BOO BOO and need to remove some color.  The pack of 3 markers of the one color (say Smoky Slate) will be $11.95.  The Smoky Slate pack is a MUST because you use these first for shading and then other colors over them and it is AWESOME.  See my mixed media OWL Art piece  from a few days ago and you will understand what I am talking about.

Can't wait for the release of these new Blendabilities.  It will be this quarter and as soon as I hear the exact date I will let you know.
