INKING AN EMBOSSING FOLDER TO CREATE A CARD

HEY BLOGGIES,

I have a new technique to share with you.  It was so fun to create the background paper for this card.  Here is what I did.

First, I chose an embossing folder with a bit of a pattern. Then use the side with the manufacturer name on it and open it up to that side. (Where the word Stampin' Up! is)

Add ink in by either of these methods:  direct from ink pad to embossing folder, or using daubers to apply it to the folder.  Use several colors and also leave some places blank as well.

Next, use a fine mist spritzer and spritz water onto the embossing folder.  Then place a piece of water color paper, rough side down on the ink, and carefully press with your fingers all over the paper.

Remove the watercolor paper very carefully and set aside to dry.  Put another piece of watercolor paper onto the embossing folder to pick up more of the ink.  Follow as above to press it into the ink and then to remove carefully.

After it is dry, you can cut it to the size you want for a background or accent piece, OR you can punch it for your embellishments.  I did both on the following card:

I used whisper white as my card base, with tangerine tango as my background layer under my watercolor print.  The two pieces of accent card stock are real red.  There is a tangerine tango layer behind the punched flower.

I punched my flower out so that the swirl is right in the middle of my flower.  Pretty cool, huh?
My banner is thin under the flower and gets wider as it gets to the banner end.  Same with the piece I stamped "thank you" on.  I like that shape a lot lately.

I used the petite petals punch with tangerine and red for the flowers in the upper right corner with some multi colored beads adhered in the center.

Hope you have enjoyed my card.  I am entering it at SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY this week.  Why don't you click and go on over to our site to see what the other team members created with this sketch created by Kim:

And here is my take on the sketch:

I put the little flag/banner down the left side and then when I look at it, it all looks like a big flag or banner!! I used PETAL PARADE stamp set which I am still loving!!

Here is a closeup of the card with all it's yumminess.  Candy dots in the center of the flowers; seam binding ribbon, and that lovely stamped chevron stamp going down the left side as my flag/banner.

HEY BLOGGIES,

I have a little Mojo Monday card for you here.  It got my mojo humming this morning.

I used crisp camtaloupe and crumb cake with whisper white.

the little adornment is a button with the back snipped off.  I created the cuteBOW in DSP with the oval punch and also a 3/4" wide piece of paper.   I have beads as sprinkles on the shiny gelato scoop. Embossing on cone and background.

The sentiment is from Six Sided Sampler stamp set, punched with oval punch and layered Scallop Oval punch.Embossed background is baked brown sugar.

FALL FLOWERS AND SHADES OF BLUE

HEY BLOGGIES,

Welcome back to my little part of the world.  Today I have two cards for you.  They are going to be part of a set of cards I am giving as a gift to a friend.

First up is the friend or generic type card:

Crumb cake and blue - I love that combination.  I find it is my "go to" when I need a quick card and don't have time to mull over what colors I will use.  I think this is fall flowers because the flower is made with the packing material they sometimes use in boxes I receive from UPS, etc. I HOARD this stuff from my boxes I receive and now I am finally trying to use it!!

Sponging the layers and a little bit of the flower adds dimension and more color.  I used a retired corduroy button in the middle of my punched flower.

I created a fun element underneath the 1/8" taffeta ribbon - I used the scallop edge punch and punched it on both sides.  It created a rick-rack effect and I am really liking it!!

PAPERCRAFT STAR

My NEXT card uses the same colors and similar design since they are part of a gift set.  This card is a thank you card and would be perfect for the new teacher.  The technique I am focusing on is using punches and dies.  I used 2 punches and a die.

I did a similar design with this card, but I put the flower at the bottom left, made it a bigger flower and put just a single punched scallop edge under the dsp.

This flower is cut from the same package stuffing but with a big shot die.  It took me 9 minutes 27 seconds to make this card.  I made it under 10 minutes!!

Here are the two cards together.  I am making two more and then a fun package to gift them in for my friend.  Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Please stop back in again to see some more fun creations.

MONDAY MORNING SPOOKINESS...

GOOD MORNING WORLD!  What a beautiful morning here in East Texas.  We got some amazing thundershowers (which we DESPERATELY needed) and this morning everything smells so clean and fresh.  I am thankful for the rain.

This morning I have a fun halloween card using the WITCHES BREW designer paper.

I am loving this new WITCHES BREW DSP from the HOLIDAY CATALOG.  There are wonderful prints like the stripes I used on the bottom of my card, as well as fun pieces to use as is on the card like the bats on the newsprint.  There are all sorts of halloween words too like Dragon's Teeth, Pumpkin, Open, Candy shop, etc. you can punch out and use on your cards.

I used my last year's SPOOKY stamp for my sentiment.  I tried a few of the words but I needed some more pumpkin pie color in there.  I finished it off with polka-dot ribbon and three candy dots in pumpkin pie.
