SOMETHING FOR BABY

HEY BLOGGIES,

I have a fun card for you today.  I usually seem to make these soji screen cards only on Halloween with a witch or ghost on it.  Why?  I don't know but I think it is because the first one I saw was a Halloween one.  But yesterday I was blurfing (surfing blogs) and I saw a cute card by Deb Valder using the Work of Art stamp set and this type of screen card.  I loved it so much I had to make one myself, but using the SOMETHING FOR BABY stamp set.

Isn't this so sweet??  My screen is made from Hello Honey card stock scored into 4 equal parts and then folded back and forth.  I used the new Hearts Border punch along the top and then the Decorative Label punch on the bottom to make the legs for it to stand on.

The Designer Paper is LULLABY, which is part of the BUY 3 GET ONE FREE SALE FOR JULY.  I am LOVING.THIS.PAPER.  I need to get more while it is on sale because it has such amazing prints and the colors are gorgeous.  These watercolor polka dots are so popular and can be used for any type card, not just baby.  The colors are hello honey, coastal cabana, calypso coral and pistachio pudding, all on this one sheet in a "stamped off" intensity.

I used the LITTLE LETTERS thinlit dies to cut out the word BABY, and then used the negative space on this card.  I am going to use the letters on another card in the future.  Waste not, want not my Mom always said.

This SOMETHING FOR BABY stamp set is so stinkin' cute!!  AND the MATCHING FRAMELITS DIES called  BABY'S FIRST make it so fun to stamp and die cut in no time at all.  Here are the pages with the onsie on a hanger, the bib on that and then the carriage.  I stamped two carriages and cut them apart to make the metal parts of a real carriage a different color (here I used Soft Suede).

This is the page to write a small message and sign it.  I stamped and die cut the booties and the large safety pin.  Cuteness, huh?

Here is one more look at the complete card.  These colors are for someone who is expecting a baby GIRL.  The back of this card is also polka dots in water colored intensity in coastal cabana, pistachio pudding and baked brown sugar - perfect for a baby BOY!!

I have entered this card at Late Night Stampers Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by to see my card today.  All the supplies I used are available for you to purchase at my store.  Just clock my signature line below and it will take you to my Stampin' Up! Store.

INKING AN EMBOSSING FOLDER TO CREATE A CARD

HEY BLOGGIES,

I have a new technique to share with you.  It was so fun to create the background paper for this card.  Here is what I did.

First, I chose an embossing folder with a bit of a pattern. Then use the side with the manufacturer name on it and open it up to that side. (Where the word Stampin' Up! is)

Add ink in by either of these methods:  direct from ink pad to embossing folder, or using daubers to apply it to the folder.  Use several colors and also leave some places blank as well.

Next, use a fine mist spritzer and spritz water onto the embossing folder.  Then place a piece of water color paper, rough side down on the ink, and carefully press with your fingers all over the paper.

Remove the watercolor paper very carefully and set aside to dry.  Put another piece of watercolor paper onto the embossing folder to pick up more of the ink.  Follow as above to press it into the ink and then to remove carefully.

After it is dry, you can cut it to the size you want for a background or accent piece, OR you can punch it for your embellishments.  I did both on the following card:

I used whisper white as my card base, with tangerine tango as my background layer under my watercolor print.  The two pieces of accent card stock are real red.  There is a tangerine tango layer behind the punched flower.

I punched my flower out so that the swirl is right in the middle of my flower.  Pretty cool, huh?
My banner is thin under the flower and gets wider as it gets to the banner end.  Same with the piece I stamped "thank you" on.  I like that shape a lot lately.

I used the petite petals punch with tangerine and red for the flowers in the upper right corner with some multi colored beads adhered in the center.

Hope you have enjoyed my card.  I am entering it at SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY this week.  Why don't you click and go on over to our site to see what the other team members created with this sketch created by Kim:

I have ALSO entered this card at MOJO MONDAY to use this sketch:

MORE FUN RAINBOW CARDS

HEY BLOGGIES,

I had so much fun creating my card that I showed you yesterday (see previous post), that I thought I would make a couple more with some variations..

I used the ANOTHER THANK YOU photopolymer stamp set for my words.
This one I used a stamp from the Petals Parade stamp set and my pick of rainbow color inks.  I added a small black cardstock strip near the bottom and a cute hot pink flower accessory with a rhinestone in it. I like the way the stamping came out with the different colors.  I used rainbow colors of mini flower sequins to accent the card.

This card I again used the punched squares and rounded two corners.  I used black ink for the thanks on one of the squares.  I used a large flat backed dot for an accent on the right and the cute mini flower sequins all over.

On all three cards, the die cut thanks was from the Silhouette ecutter.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  Stop back again for more inspiration, won't you?

FRIEND CARD

HEY BLOGGIES,

Sometimes we just need a "because" card or a "friend" card, don't we?  Well, today I have one of those to share.  I used several techniques on this one, including:

  • painters tape
  • torn paper
  • semi-layering
  • banner
  • sentiment sideways
Let's have a look, shall we?

It is a cloudy, overcast day so my natural lighting is not very good.  This is so safron and Island Indigo, FYI

On top of the banner is a 2 1/2" circle punch of so safron with a Flower Shop flower stamped in Island Indigo.  I had this little "friend" stamp laying around and not sure where it came from, but I think it is perfect for this simple embellishment.

One last look at the torn layers, painters tape inked layers and the fun banner and embellishment.

Thank you gift set

I made this adorable (even if I do say so myself!) Thank you cards gift set complete with the gift box.  It is a wedding shower gift for the bride to have some personal thank you cards to mail out.

The colors are not showing up very well, so sorry.  But I used Night of Navy with Bashful Blue.  I used the Elizabeth single stamp, and then used the thank you from the Because I Care hostess set in the big catalog.  I used some DSP that I think I got as a hostess gift a while back, along with Bashful Blue 1" ribbon from the Clearance Rack and I tied it with some silver and gold cord (retired).

I used the navy brads from the brads collection as well as the decorative label punch or is it the designer label punch?  The small one!  ha  I can't remember which is which with those names.  This second photo shows the colors just a little bit better.  On the gift box I used the larage flower punch and the single stamp FOR YOU.

I got both the ELIZABETH stamp and the FOR YOU stamp FREE with Sale-a-bration.  YOU STILL HAVE A FEW MORE DAYS TO GET YOUR FREE ITEMS FROM ME.  Order $50 merchandise on my SU ordering site and get YOUR FREE ITEMS.

AND

THIS WEEK ONLY I AM GIVING OUT A FREE GIFT TO EVERYONE WHO ORDERS A MINIMUM OF $35 OF MERCHANDISE FROM ME.  I have several items for you to choose from - a new pack of card stock, a new marker, or some gently used discontinued stamp sets.

Happy stamping - have fun!!
